I'm pretty sure they're called "berserkers" in the game. If I'm wrong, I apologize. It occurred to me the second after I hit "save" that it was possible I wasn't correct. --Aranel 19:13, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Had to check myself, but they're actually called "berserks" in the game. I'll quickly revert :P -- Ferkelparade π 19:18, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)

While adding the covers, I deleted the following ext. links since they directly point to gamefaqs files:

How about including cheats in the article? Chamaeleon 20:28, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Scenario Editor

I was slightly annoyed that no mention of the scenario editor was made, so I inserted a text myself. There is thriving online designer's page based in Age of King's Heaven. Though the game is difficult to modify and thus given a back seat to other mods and games, it makes up for this with its unique editor. This accessed in game, is fairly simple and user-friendly, and can be used to create a vast variety of scenartios. AoK custom campaigns are unique in gaming in that they can feature whole stories and complex plots. On their highest level they can even compete with real literature, which is something most official games can't even say. Those are few, however, and fewer than ten campaigns out of roughly 3000 have received perfect scores in the Age of Kings Heaven. I believe that the designing community outnumbers the gaming community nowadays.

EDIT - Let me just add to my fellow designers words (Oliver? Ana? Zyx?), the community is tight-knit and willing to accept everyone, so long as they keep their behavior respectable. ES has recognized many of our designs, and they seem to enjoy it some. We love our craft, and I'm sure that anyone who tries it and gets used to it will love it too. -SS

[edit] DS Version

Just a piece of opinion (since I've seen someone added the DS category), given the differences that can be spotted from the previews between the original and DS versions (the preview I've read AoK DS is a turn based game), it would be much more advisable to create a separate article, not a different section. wS 21:02, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

It appears that there's no section or page any longer, or if there is, I was unable to find it. --TCM (Talk) 13:37, 27 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Michi

Why does Michi redirects to this article?

Because somebody apparently wrote an article about an AOK map called "Michi" and somebody else decided to redirect instead of delete the article. I agree that it's not a terribly useful redirect, especially since the Michi map is not even mentioned in the article (not that it should be mentioned :P ) - I'll bring this up at WP:RFD -- Ferkelparade π 10:04, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Request for cleaning up

This article is full of gamecruft, contains one-sentence-sections and is outdated at times (a release scheduled for February 14).Image:Weather rain.pngSoothingR 07:24, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] zone history

theres a whole different aok game in zone and theres history of clans and stuff can i write a article about the history?

[edit] Article Tone

I think the tone of this article is a bit unencyclopedic. There is so much reference to the first Age of Empires and ways in which this one is better. I think the article should be rephrased since this is not a series comparison article. Anyone agree? Tutmosis 16:42, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

  • I'll take a stab at tidying this up in the next couple of days. I can see where I can do some work here and there. Having played the game for quite some time, I should be able to sort it out...--Tony Fox 05:56, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Historical Accuracy

How accurate are the history notes in the unique unit section? It looks to me like most of those notes came from the game manual, which may or may not be a credible source of historical information. I'll see if I can research this more.Gamer.g33k 22:08, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of Cheat Codes section

  • As per this, I am removing the Cheat Codes section.--DethFromAbove 22:28, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
    • I think chat codes, or at least their existance, links should be in the article. Anyone else agree? --seifip 16:58, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Negative, this is wikipedia, not cheat code central.

[edit] Missing Wonder

I couldn't help but notice that in the Wonders section, the Britons are missing. Anyone care to fix this problem?--Knight45 20:03 19 July 2006

Never mind; read the section after.--Knight45 20:05 19 July 2006

[edit] Help

I found an Age of Empires II guide on Gamespot. The problem is, everytime I access a section in that guide, I don't see what I expect to see. All that I see is a blank page! Could someone please tell me how to fix this problem? After all, I really need a walkthrough for the campaign scenarios that I have never completed without cheating!

Hello! Could someone please answer my question?

Yeah, there are some pretty hard missions. I myself have never completed all the campaigns without cheating. Anyways, try to sign all your comments with 4 tildes. (~~~~) Russian F 04:32, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

So could you help me find a walkthrough for the campaigns? And/or could you tell me how to get the Gamespot guide working properly?

[edit] Article needs to be reduced in size

  • The units section is ridicously enormous. From barracks to docks each unit is described, how about spitting such part into a new article. Another suggestion?
    • I agree, it should be split. Woodrow Buzard 15:08, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
    • I also agree that the article should be split. However, shouldn't we also split the Unique Units section with the Units section? Cyberguy410 17:52, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
    • I also agree, and we should put the unit's specific weaknesses+Strengths.
    • I'd love that, but unfortunately if you try to make a units section for an RTS game on this site, it usually is deleted. I think it's stupid too, but I guess some people just insist on deleting those articles. Russian F 04:35, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
    • I completely agree. Nate 17:42, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
    • I agree, it's over half the article's length, which is ridiculous. If the units aren't notable enough for their own article, they can always go on a wiki for AoK (like this one). Basically they should just be given a smaller section without going into the specifics of each unit, just like at Age of Empires Richard001 23:27, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
    • Good idea. If we go for the "split into a new article" idea, I think we should go into the unit specifics. If the section should just be shrinked, I agree with Richard001 that we should just list only the basic info, like creation place (eg Barracks), and stats. Or just their names and creation point works too. RageSamurai21655 17:32, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

It seems we have a consensus, but how can we know if the article is notable enough, or if it will just be removed? Should we simply copy and paste the units section as is and see if it remains, or request the advice from an admin who would be familiar with this sort of thing? Either way, we can begin on reducing the section down (using Age of Empires for a model) as we can always refer to the page history for the units list. We should leave an invisible note at the top of the section incase anyone is inclined to fill it with details again. Richard001 07:05, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Here are some discussions to consider as precendent:

If in fact a sperate article is created, consider that is is almost certain to be nominated for deletion, and there is a very good chance that it would in fact be deleted unless multiple third party reliable sources can be found for the information. Which isn't likely.
brenneman {L} 04:26, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your advice, Aaron. I've changed to cleanup tag to a list one for now. Richard001 09:39, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] No Mention of Gold Edition?

There is no mention of Age of Empires II: Gold Edition. The Gold Edition contains both Age of Kings and The Conquerors Expansion. Anyone else agree that this should be mentioned somewhere? If so, where in the article? Cyberguy410 16:13, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Added, thanks for your input —shoecream 06:40, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
Just so you know, there is an Age of Empires: Collector's Edition [1] that includes AoE I, Rise of Rome, AoE II and the Conquerors, along with presentation manuals and the soundtrack to both of these incarnations. Ck lostsword|queta!|Suggestions? 09:14, 16 September 2006 (UTC)
That should be added to the article--seifip 16:49, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Suicide bomber

Hey, the description of the Petard (Suicide bomber) unit says that it's only in the conquerors expansion. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this unit also used in a campaign mission and the scenario editer in regular AoK? Russian F 04:40, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

You may mean Saboteurs. These are basically Petards, but much more powerful, and in AoK. Petards are in the conquerors expansion. Nate 17:40, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Units in Seperate Article

I think that AOE 2 should be mentioned on aeperate article; they could be spitted into a seperate article named AOE 2 Units or something like that. Does anybody agree?

Yes, but it isn't notable enough for a separate article, so thinning it down and converting to prose is the only option here. See above Richard001 08:25, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
