Afton Oaks is a neighborhood in Houston, Texas, United States.

Afton Oaks is located inside the 610 Loop between Uptown Houston and Highland Village. Afton Oaks contains many homes built in the 1950s. The civic association was chartered in 1955.

Afton Oaks is served by the Houston City Council District G. Afton Oaks is in Texas's 7th congressional district [1].

The Afton Oaks area has steadily increased in value over the past few years. The median home price for 2006 was $397,692. This is more than a 20% increase from the median home price in 2002 of $330,400. The revitalization of the downtown Houston area has helped fuel this growth along with other areas of Houston located inside the 610 Loop.

Afton Oaks is zoned to Houston ISD schools.

Afton Oaks is zoned to St. George Place Elementary School in the neighborhood of St. George Place. As of 2006, St. George Place hasn't opened yet, so St. George Place residents are to enroll their elementary school-aged children in Briargrove Elementary School for the 2006-2007 school year; the school is in the current St. George Place Campus. Once the new Briargrove campus is complete, Briargrove will move into a new campus and separate from St. George Place.

Afton Oaks pupils are also zoned to Lanier Middle School in Montrose and Lamar High School in Upper Kirby.

Prior to spring 2006, Afton Oaks was zoned to Will Rogers Elementary School. Will Rogers was closed after spring 2006 and Afton Oaks was rezoned to St. George Place.

The neighborhood is within the Houston Police Department's Central Patrol Division [2].
