After Midnight
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"After Midnight" is a blues song written by J.J. Cale. The slow, laid back boogie of "After Midnight" is a great example of the style that made Cale famous. Though Cale wrote the song, it was first included on Eric Clapton's eponymous 1970 album, Clapton's version being the most well known version of the song. Similar to Jimi Hendrix's cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower," many people think that Clapton wrote the song.
"After Midnight" was included on J.J. Cale's 1971 debut album, Naturally.
In addition to Clapton, the song has been covered by Chet Atkins, The Shirelles, The Jerry Garcia Band, and composer Danny Elfman.
