After Burner is a 1987 Japanese arcade game by Sega. It is the first game in the After Burner series. It was also available on the Sega Master System console.

- In Shenmue II, the arcade version is a playable unlock.
- The game makes a short cameo in the movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day. John is playing the game when Tim comes and tells him there's a cop (T-1000) looking for him.
- The game is also played by Powers Boothe in the HBO original movie By Dawn's Early Light (1990).
- You could complete the first 10 or so levels without getting hit simply by holding the joypad (left or right) on the Master System version.
- In the 1988 arcade game Power Drift, the fighter is a hidden vehicle which can only be accessed by placing first for all five tracks on courses B and D. It is only playable in the Extra Stage.
- It is possible to beat the game by positioning the fighter in the top left corner of the screen. Enemy fighters can not hit the player's fighter in this position.
