Afshan Azad (born 12 February 1989) is an actress. She plays Padma Patil in the Harry Potter films. She got the part when casting agents visited her school, and after several auditions, was chosen for the part. She auditioned for the role just for the fun of it. She is good friends with Daniel Radcliffe.

She currently lives in Manchester. She is a Muslim, and a second-generation Bangladeshi. Afshan and her co-star Shefali Chowdhury became very close after their acting in Goblet of Fire. Seventeen-year-old Afshan is also an A-level student studying Chemistry, Biology, English and media language at Xaverian College and has just taken her AS level exams.
