Africana
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Africana is a catch-all term referring to history and culture of Africa and to materials chronicling these topics.
Africana.com was also a web portal for the African Diaspora that was bought by AOL and later merged into AOL's Black Voices web portal service, effective January 31, 2005. It was founded by the co-editors of Encarta's Encyclopedia Africana, Professors Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and Kwame Anthony Appiah, on January 25, 1997, and most of the Encyclopedia Africana's articles were made available on the web via Africana.com.
