Aerovias DAP

Aerovias DAP (Las Aerolineas de la Patagonia) is an airline based in Punta Arenas, Chile. It operates scheduled and charter services in Patagonia, Chile and Argentina and also operates flights on behalf of the state-owned oil company, ENAP.

The airline was established in 1980 and is wholly owned by the Pivcevic family. Its name DAP is the acronym for its creator, Domingo Andrés Pivcevic, a Punta Arenas-businessman. Its first operations were between Punta Arenas, Porvenir, Puerto Natales and Coyhaique, with the first plane being the Twin Otter. The first flight to Antarctica took place on February 12, 1989, and usually these take place on the Southern Hemisphere's summer season, employing the Twin Otter, King Air 100 and (since 2003) the DHC-7 leased from Voyageur Airways of Canada.

Aerovias DAP operates services to the following domestic scheduled destinations (at January 2005): El Calafate, Porvenir, Puerto Williams, Punta Arenas and Ushuaia.

The Aerovias DAP fleet includes the following aircraft (at October 2006):[citation needed]

- 1 De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 300
- 1 CASA 212-100(stored)
- 2 Cessna 402C
- 1 Beechcraft King Air 100
DAP helicopteros fleet comprises:
- 4 Eurocopter AS-355F Twinstar for off-shore petrol ops,
- 5 Eurocopter Bo105CB-4 for EMS operations; three are based at Santiago-Lo Aguirre helipad while one is based at punta Arenas and the remainder in Antarctica.
The recent agreement between DAP and Chile's oil Company (ENAP, Empresa Nacional del Petroleo) implied the renovation of the helicopters curently in use.
