[edit] History

The airline was established in April 1992 and started operations on 24 August 1992 as a regional air carrier. It was created after deregulation of domestic air transport in Bolivia by a merger of existing charter companies. It became the first Bolivian airline to introduce first and business class on domestic flights. Steadily growing, Aerosur has become the second largest airline in Bolivia after Lloyd Aereo Boliviano, operating a large national network as well as (since 1998) international routes to São Paulo, Brazil and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since 2004 Aerosur also operates scheduled nostalgic flights on a Douglas Super DC-3 to the tourist destinations Salar De Uyuni and Rurrenabaque.
