[edit] Beginnings (1995-2001)
The band started in 1995 when Alex Bainer and Richard Green decided to focus their careers on music while they were still in school. Over the next 5 years the band built a following. In 2001 they released their first album, Empty on an independent label out of San Bernadino.
[edit] Rising
After the release of Empty, the band continued to tour and gain more fans across America and other countries. In 2003 they released The Abnormalities of the World on Century Media. The album had their first successful single, the title track, which charted on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. The album debuted at #147 on the Billboard 200.
In 2005 the band signed with Atlantic for the release of their major label debut, Aero.
[edit] 2005-2006 (Aero era)
Aero debuted at #45 US and peaked at #29, thanks in part due to the success of the single "Changing". The band found a new large fanbase and have been touring since. In late 2005 they appeared on the David Letterman show, performing "Changing" wherein the word fucking slipped past the censors, causing a slight stir from the network. 2 more singles, although not as successful as "Changing", were released in support of Aero, "The Final Straw", and "Day 7".
[edit] Next album
In August 2006 the band announced a DVD would be released in January 2007 entitled Such a Viewtiful Disaster. They also announced that they have begun working on a new album to be released in 2007. In late September to early October the band recorded the album and is scheduled to be released in April 2007. In December, the band has planned to announce a title for the record.
