Adventures in Babysitting (2008 film)

Adventures in Babysitting is a planned remake of the 1987 film Adventures in Babysitting, which starred Elisabeth Shue. The original film followed a high school senior who gets stuck baby-sitting a bunch of kids. The dull night is interrupted when she gets a call for help from a friend stuck in downtown Chicago, leading her and the kids into a night of misadventures. The movie marked the directorial debut of Chris Columbus.

The remake was originally announced in May of 2005, and Variety reported that the script was to be written by Hilary Galanoy and Elizabeth Hackett.

In July of 2006, The Hollywood Reporter broke news that Lynda Obst, who produced the original with Debra Hill, is on board to produce the remake, and that Raven-Symoné has been cast in the film's lead role (as Chris Parker). This article also confirmed that the new Babysitting is being scripted by the writing duo of David Stem and David N. Weiss. Their previous collabarations include Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Are We There Yet?, Shrek 2, and Shrek the Third.
