Adrienne Armstrong (born Adrienne Nesser, October 6, 1969) is the co-owner of Adeline Records and Adeline Street. She is also the wife of Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong.

[edit] Biography

Adrienne met Billie Joe at a Green Day concert on their first tour in 1990, after she asked the singer where she could get a copy of Green Day's album. The two began communicating over the phone constantly, which involved Adrienne discussing her human sexuality class with the younger Armstrong. The first kiss between the two would result in an early Green Day classic, 2000 Light Years Away.

But the distance eventually proved to be a little too much. Billie Joe began seeing a girl that would later inspire the Green Day hit She, and Adrienne became engaged to another man, which would crumble before the two could walk down the aisle.

And after arranging many Green Day tours based in Minnesota merely for the purpose of seeing Adrienne, Billie Joe asked her to come out to California, which would later inspire him to write the song Westbound Sign from Insomniac. She obliged.

The two rekindled their relationship and quickly picked up where they left off. He then proposed to her and they wed two weeks later on July 2, 1994. The ceremony only lasted 5 minutes, held in a backyard with many different religions being represented. The next day, she found out she was pregnant. Billie remembered their wedding by saying that, "Adrienne just got this ratty old dress and we got married in my backyard." Their first son, Joseph Marciano Armstrong, was born in February 1995[1][2] and three years later on September 12, 1998, a second son, Jakob Danger was born to the family.

The couple would become prone to arguments during the recording of Green Day albums, a trend that would continue all the way up to the band's newest release, American Idiot. Songs like Redundant and Church on Sunday would chronicle the struggles the couple faced and would eventually overcome. Although not hinted at in the album, the biggest troubles would occur during the making of American Idiot, which Adrienne claimed in the VH1 documentary "Driven", "took our relationship farther than I would've liked."

With the couple's problems now worked out, Adrienne can often be seen with Billie Joe backstage at Green Day shows, as well as working on the couple's Adeline Records and Adeline Street clothing line and, most importantly, caring for the couple's children.
