Adra is a town in Puruliya district in the state of West Bengal, India. It is the headquarters of the South Easternrailway division of the same name. The town economy is driven by the presence of the railway there. It is one of the three most important coal loading divisions (the other two being Bilaspur and Chakradharpur) which supply coal to power plants across India.

Kharaghpur- Adra- Gomoh serves as the shortest route for Delhi bound Orissa travelers.
The railroad station has 4 platforms which are busy all the day long with trains passing to a variety of destinations in each direction.
The major sub-divisions of Adra are Beniasole, Palashkola, Panchudanga, Laldanga, Arabinda Pally & SER colonies (north and south). There are a number of schools including the Central School, the Railway Boys and Girls High Schools, Sacred Heart Convent and many more.
