Adolphe Cohn

Adolphe Cohn, LL.B., A.M. (1851-1930) was an American educator, born in Paris and educated at the University of Paris. He served in the Franco-Prussian War, studied law in Paris, and emigrated to the United States in 1875. Professor Cohn taught French at Columbia and Harvard. He chaired the French Department at Columbia from 1891 until his retirement in 1917. He delivered the lecture on French literature in the Columbia University Lectures on Literature (1911).
