Administrative Region of Tiraspol

Administrative Region of Tiraspol was an administrative region of Moldavian SSR. After Transnistria declared independence on 2 September 1990, Tiraspol became a separate administrative entity.

The city of Tiraspol is located at 46°50′N 29°37′E, on the Eastern bank of the Dniester River. It was founded in 1792 by Russian field marshall Alexander Suvorov.

It is possible to get to Tiraspol by bus from either Chişinău or Comrat in Gagauzia.

9% of Tiraspol's population is ethnic Moldovan (2004 census).
