ADFA-India
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
All India Documentary Film Makers Association (ADFA) is a non-profit organisation that supports independent documentary filmaking in India.
Documentary films unlike their commercial counterparts are not just entertainers, they are the torchbearers of the society. They reflect the true picture and are informative, thematic and a conscious effort to make things better in life. Though a vital part of the mainstream media, documentaries are often closed affairs, catering to a certain class or community. These films do not reach the masses, for which they are made and so remain unrecognized and appreciated. A filmmaker’s dream of claiming success by reaching the common man remains unfulfilled. Today, documentary filmmaking has achieved new heights; India and its numerous aspects have been beautifully conceptualized and carefully captured, freezed in their frames but where is the avenue to open them for the public?
ADFA is the platform. Its purpose is to help the documentary-making industry through a network of valuable contacts, events, and programs. Its mission is to establish the film makers before the masses and make their film a mass event, as well as help them in career development and support.
The current president of ADFA is Professor W.A. Qazi
