In reference to your village pump question, I think the Wikipedia:Fair use page may provide the answers you seek.

I think an attributed quote from the interview would be fine. Audio excerpts from the interview might be pushing it. There's definitely a judgment call involved, so lean toward conservative. remington 23:58, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Citation of audio quotes

Also in response, if you're using the <ref> style at Wikipedia:Citing sources and want to cite an interview in a footnote...[1] Well, I don't think there's any specific format, but put in as much information as you can that would help someone locate that interview later, if they wanted to check the quote or get more context. Don't worry too much about the order of the info, or what should be in italics, or what should be linked, because if someone objects they can always clean up the format later, but as the person inserting the information you're the only one that can provide accurate citation details.

Sample reference for the above footnote:

  1. ^ Random factoid, by Catherine Munro. All Things Considered radio show on NPR, first aired April 1, 2000.

Hope that helps! — Catherine\talk 08:45, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi

Just out of interest. Regarding your edit on talk:main page I'm currently trying to get the header on that page working for new users. I'm interested in your process that lead you to overlook the help at the top of that page and go ahead and post your question in the "wrong place" anyway? Not judging you, I'm just trying to understand what goes through people's minds. --Monotonehell 10:13, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Hehe no need to appoliguise. Like I said I'm trying to make the header more useful. What I'm interested in is what occured so that you didn't notice the top note until later. Does it need to be in a different place, colour, something? We're trying to crack this one. Any help is appreciated. --Monotonehell
Hi, like I said (or was trying to say), the box saying "what you are trying to do is probably in the wrong place" didn't appear until after it had been submitted. I've tried two browsers - Mozilla Firefox 2.0 beta, and Mozilla Firefox 1.5.6, running on Windows Vista build 5472 and then on Mandrake 10.1. Same error occurs on both. This is very interesting. So you came from the main page, clicked on "Discussion" then what? --Monotonehell 14:21, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
I see so in the process of clicking links along the top bar, people dont look down to see the head before the click "edit this page" or "+". This is what we suspected. Nothing can be done about that lol. Thanks for your help. --Monotonehell 14:53, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Shiv.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Shiv.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 22:30, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
