Adelia barbinervis is a plant species of the family Euphorbiaceae. It is commonly found in southern Mexico and northern Central America. Most often found in association with milpa ecosystems, barbinervis (also called teenek) has been historically used by the local Maya to stave off hunger by the cooking and eating of its leaves and young shoots.
