Adelaide (5000) is an innermost locality of Greater Adelaide, known by locals simply as "The City" or "Postcode 5000".
Comprising of the postcodes of 5000 and 5001, the area known as Adelaide features many of the city's tourist landmarks.
The locality encompasses the Adelaide central business district (CBD), bounded by North Terrace, East Terrace, South Terrace and West Terrace and is the oldest part of Greater Adelaide. The locality falls under the local government jurisdiction of the City of Adelaide along with North Adelaide and the Adelaide Parklands.
