Adam M-309 CarbonAero
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Adam M-309 CarbonAero is a technology demonstrator for a civil utility transport aircraft. It was designed by Burt Rutan and built by Scaled Composites at the Mojave Airport. The "309" designation refers to this being Rutan's 309th aircraft design. It is a six-seat aircraft of unusual "push-pull" configuration, with a TCM TSIO-550 piston engine mounted in both the nose and tail ends of the fuselage. The fins and stabilizer are carried on booms stretching back from the wing.
The aircraft first flew in March 2000 and was put into development as the Adam A500. The aircraft has since been gutted, although the airframe still resides as a display outside the Adam Aircraft Industries headquarters.
