Active game
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An active game is a term to describe a computer/video game that allows the player to actively be involved with the game, not by merely pressing buttons with their thumbs. This means that the player physically moves their body in someway (other than pressing buttons with their thumbs) to interact with the game. Active Games are a sub genere, meaning that any genre can be an active game if it allows for physical involvement with the game.
[edit] History
Active games have been around for a long time. Some of the first interactive games showed up in the arcade, but later were introduced in home consoles. Certain peripherals were made for home console to encourage active gameplay with existing games or exclusive games that are interactive. On November 19th, 2006 Nintendo released Wii, the first home console with a controller that encourages active play in all of its games.
