ActiveRain
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The ActiveRain Real Estate Network is a social networking service, active blogging community and directory for real estate professionals across the US and Canada. The Network was launched June 2006, and currently hosts over 10,000 real estate professionals. The ActiveRain Real Estate Network allows its members to blog together in a group blog, as well as discuss real estate related issues in forums, and via direct messaging.
One of the more unique aspects of ActiveRain is a point system that rewards members for community building activities, by further increasing their visibility within the community. For example members receive points for blog posts, commenting and referring others to the system. This point system helps contributes to a very sticky user experience and what members often refer to as an "ActiveRain addiction".
Another interesting aspect is the impact which the ActiveRain Real Estate Network is having on a single industry despite a small user base, relative to other social networks. Often mainstream real estate media sources like Inman News, often use member blogs and quotes as the basis for articles.
