Acropolis Museum

The Acropolis Museum is an archaeological museum located in Athens, Greece. It is considered the most important museum in Athens and one of the most significant in the world.
The museum is home to many of the Greek worlds ancient relics found on and around the Acropolis site since excavations started. It was designed by the Greek architect Panages Kalkos and it was constructed in the years between 1865 and 1874. The Acropolis Museum only houses stone sculptures from the monuments of the Acropolis and some artefacts that are excavated on the site. It is located in the south-east corner of the Acropolis.

There is currently under-construction a new wing to the Acropolis Museum. The new building is of contemporary design and has been designed to not subtract the glamour from the Acropolis.
It is expected to be complete by summer 2007 and when it is it will make the Acropolis Museum one of the most advanced in the world.
