Talk:ACN Inc.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Somebody had added information about ACN's legitimacy in terms of an Australian court decision. However, this decision is again under appeal by the ACCC, meaning that ACN is not yet out of the woods on the legitimacy front. The information added was inappropriate for an encyclopedia, and instead a short summary should be added, and external references cited. I suspect that somebody is trying to use this page to talk up the ACN opportunity.
Sorry, I'm not trying to talk it up, just trying to show both sides of the story. But you're probably right in that the whole article doesn't belong in an encyclopedia setting. Hopefully the summary sums it up well enough. Feel free to edit.--Dan 07:07, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- Reformatted and edited per cleanup tag. Removed legal team reference; unsourced. Source it if you want to add it back.
Removed competitors section because it is:
1. Common Sense - nobody is listing the competitors for other telecoms on their articles... or Pepsi in the Coca-cola article for that matter.
2. Misleading - ACN is a reseller... they are reselling wholesale telecom service from at least some of those providers; not really competing with them per se.--Isotope23 19:25, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- I'm also strongly considering completely removing the Some of the Main "Independent Representative" Teams section unless someone can make a good case for it staying. I've already removed some unsourced POV wording from the heading, but saying these are the "Main" teams, or even teams of note compared to what I assume are hundreds or thousands of these IR groups is very problematic as it is not WP:V sourced. To draw an parallel, Amway article does not list a bunch of their IBO's.--Isotope23 19:39, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Team Websites
I removed Team websites again... Essentially these are equivelent to independant contractors selling services for the main company (ACN). There are thousands of these independant contractors out there. This is an arbitrary list of a small handful of these companies. In my opinion, there is no basis for these groups to be listed in this article for a few reasons:
- Addition is arbitrary; there is no defined criteria for inclusion and with the vast number of these groups this article could quickly turn into an external linkfarm.
- These groups sell the services of the company, but are not technically part of the corporate structure.
- Precedent... if you look at other direct marketing articles (Amway, Shaklee, Excel Communications, et. al.) independent distributorships are not linked in the main article.
I'm willing to discuss this though if someone can advance a good logical reason for this information being in the article.--Isotope23 13:26, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Donald Trump
Somebody added on the timeline that ACN was endorsed by Donald Trump. I have removed this. The personal who originally put it there may wish to include it in a separate section, but only if they include a reference.
I added the link for Trump straight to ACN's web page. Here it is. [1] Dan 10:09, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] revert of IP edit
Claimes that ACN moved to have a blog shut down and/or suppress criticism on the internet need to be sourced. If you can include a verifiable reliable source for this information, then add it back. Otherwise it has no place in an encyclopedia.--Isotope23 13:42, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Moved below text here
This appears to contain an element of original research based on the inference being made here between two seperated date points.... rewrite the info to eliminate the original research and this could be added back... I've dropped the text here so anyone can rewrite it if they want to.
CC: Am I to understand that I may not enter what they are stating in their presentation? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 206.172.42.30 (talk • contribs).
- Comment, No.... but the way you've stated it violates WP:NOR; i.e. you are drawing your own conclusion from this data when you say "This, if and when noted, tends to put into question their statements about limitless income potential on the 11th page of the same presentation". That is the issue here. Simply showing what is stated in their presentation (with those 2 cites of course) without editorializing or drawing your own conclusions would be perfectly acceptible.--Isotope23 16:46, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
CC: Thank you
==== Income ====
ACN Canada's business presentation claims limitless income potential on its 11th page. Also, on its 12th page, in small print, it states that the average canadian independent representative earned 400$ in 2005. [2]
[edit] ACN's energy initiative?
I haven't time to source it but I heard that there was some pricing controversy regarding ACN and their US energy subsidiary involving slamming, regulatory problems, etc. A quick search brought this up: http://www.ucan.org/law_policy/energydocs/acncomplaint.htm , does anyone know more?
[edit] ACN's Revenue
I got the "600,000 in 2004" revenue information from ACN's DVD that promotes their business. I couldn't find the information online, but it can be found on the "ACN Opportunity" DVD, made circa 2005. Dan 10:07, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
