[edit] Legal issues in Australia

On November 15th, 2004, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (or ACCC), the Australian government agency responsible for matters of consumer protection, initiated proceedings against ACN's Australian operations on charges of operating as an illegal pyramid[2]. On March 23rd, 2005, Justice Selway found that ACN had induced their representatives to take part in an illegal pyramid scheme as defined in section 65AAC of the Trade Practices Act 1974. This ruling was overturned by the Full Federal Court on October 25th, 2005 [3]. The ACCC responded by applying to appeal to the High Court of Australia on November 21st [4]. As of late July 2006, the High Court of Australia has refused the ACCC's application for appeal. ACN Operates on the Pacific Rim out of a world HQ building in Sydney and continues to operate all over Australia.
