Acidan New Zealand electronic musician. Known for his diverse styles. Born Daniel Joseph McCarthy on the 29th of June, 1981 in Manly, Sydney, Australia, acidan was brought up in a musical family. When he was 4 his mother bought him the 45' single "Bad" by Michael Jackson, this was the start of his serious interest in music. He came from a long line of pianists, his father, Denis McCarthy, His Grandmother, Gertrude McCarthy, and his great-grandmother who used to play piano at the silent films. At the age of 8 he shifted to New Zealand where he still resides. When he was age 15, he started to learn the guitar. This is what would inspire him later to be a rock guitarist/singer/songwriter see the fool But as far as electronic music goes, it was the amiga 500 that he bought from school for $200(NZ) and the program octamed that his friend Peter Edwards gave him. From there he started making old school cheesy techno, rock and hip hop backing tracks and some other instrumental music. He dreamed of having a small bedroom studio one day, but his job at the laundromat and the supermarket weren't giving him the money to come anywhere near this dream.

When he turned 20 he bought a PC, and eventually purchasing fruityloops, he took a giant step closer towards his goal. Fruityloops (now known as FL Studiowas what he needed to get the creative juices flowing. As fruityloops improved and became more of a studio, acidan improved and became more and more diverse. He has released 1 album, 1 E.P. and 2 albums are on the way.
