Abraham Nahum Stencl

Abraham Nahum Stencl (Avrom-Nokhem Shtentsl) (1897-1983) was a Yiddish poet.

He was born in Tsheladzh, now Czeladź in south-western Poland. He emigrated to Berlin in 1921. He began to write Yiddish poetry in a pioneer modernist and expressionist style.

He left Germany for the United Kingdom in the middle of the 1930s, settling in London in Whitechapel. There he edited the Yiddish literary journal Loshn and Lebn, from 1946 to 1981.
