Abraham Lincoln High School, usually referred to as Lincoln High, is a high school in the San Jose Unified School District. It is a magnet school for "Academic, Visual, and Performing Arts," and is located in close proximity to San Jose City College. Its principal is Chris Funk.

Its mascot is the Lion, and its school colours are blue and gold. The school offers cross country, water polo, tennis, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, football, baseball, softball, soccer, golf, badminton, track and field, and swimming. But Lincoln's football team is the school's most beloved sport, getting much attention during the Big Bone Game. The team was undefeated last year and was at the top of their league. This year was their first in A leauge.

However, traditional sports are not what Lincoln is best known for. As an Academic, Visual, and Performing Arts magnet school, Lincoln is renowned for its performing arts departments. The theater department draws many students to Lincoln and puts on many elaborate plays and musicals throughout the year. Lincoln's dance team, the Convertibles, and Lincoln's cheer team are both ranked #1 nationally.

Lincoln's art department is also widely recognized. Their chapter of NAHS is extremely active, and decorates a tree for San Jose's annual Christmas in the Park tree decorating competition. They have won first place in the competition innumeral times.

Lincoln also has a student-run newspaper, Lincoln Lion Tales, that highlights recent events at the school.

[edit] Big Bone Game

The football teams of San Jose High Academy and Lincoln face off at San Jose City College each Thanksgiving in the Big Bone Game, an annual game held on Thanksgiving Day at San Jose City College. This rivalry game has been held since 1945; it gets its name from San Jose High (now Academy) student Bob Schimdt in 1945, who found a large steer leg in his father's butcher shop and declared it the trophy for the winning school. San Jose won the first Big Bone, but Lincoln has been the home of the bone for 38 of the 62 years. Also, Lincoln has been in possession of the bone for nine straight years, beating the second longest streak in Big Bone history set by Lincoln from 1962 to 1969.
