Aberdeen University Mens Hockey Club was founded in 1903 and is the 3rd oldest hockey club in Scotland. Currently fielding 4 sides, the first team plays in Scottish National League 3, with their second string playing in Regional North. In recent years, the club has achieved 3 club of the year trophies from Aberdeen University, including back-to-back wins in 2000 and 2001. On the field, the first team were promoted from Regional League, to National League 2 within 4 seasons, and also won the Scottish Universities indoor title. The second team won the last SUSF inter-university championship in 2000, and went on to represent Scotland in the BUSA competition of that year. Aside from Edinburgh, this made Aberdeen the most successful University for hockey in Scotland. The club has enjoyed many successful tours, in recent years touring Manchester, New Zealand and Blackpool. Occasional matches against Gordonstoun School and Glenalmond College School have, in recent years, sadly not been played.

The club also boasts a large number of Old Boys, former members, who meet up from time to time. In November 2006, the most recent meeting took place in Aberdeen. The "Old Aberdonians" beat a select XI 8-1 in a fixture before a special dinner.

[edit] Centenary Year

In 2003 the Club celebrated its centenary with a special set of 3 select XI games, a 1903 rules match on Kings Playing Fields, and a reunion dinner in Aberdeen.

Many Alumni of Aberdeen were present in the select sides, making for an entertaining day. The 1903 rules match was the highlight of the Centenary celebrations, with many dressing especially for the occasion. the match was watched by a modest crowd.
