ABEND (or abend) may refer to:

  • abnormal end, in computing, an abnormal termination of software, a crash or lossage.  The term derives originally from a JCL error message on the IBM 360 mainframe system.
  • Absent by Enforced Net Deprivation, a term originating in the alt.callahans newsgroup on Usenet to account for missing group members.  The group later coined the related terms ABVND (Absent by Voluntary Net Deprivation) and ABSEND (Absent by Self-Enforced Net Deprivation).
