[edit] Fazlullah Hurufi

Is this not another name for Fazlullah Astrabadi ? Paki.tv 23:34, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

Not at all as far as I am aware. His actuall name is Naimi and Fazlullah was his pseudonym after he performed Hajj. He is the creator of Hurufism, yet he is certainly never called himself that... Abdulnr 02:05, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

OK thanks, I'll check it out. I agree with the name Naimi Fazlullah (and the problem of whether to transcribe Fadl , Fazul or Fazl as well as ullah or allah arrises - as well as for Ali al-Ala , Ali Ul Ala or Ali El Ala or even my preffered transliteration ALi Al Allah - different writers have used different spellings at diferent times) - but I do think both Astrabadi and Hurufi are qualifications to the assumed name Fazlullah (whichever letters are used). In the meantime, maybe we should shift the information on him to his own page - maybe just Naimi for now? Paki.tv 10:13, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] About History of Azerbaijan

I've been slowly going through and editing mostly for grammar and clarity and the article is looking good with the images and the consistent flow. Great work and finally this article will, hopefully, become more presentable for readers and not be deemed as 'controversial' since we've covered as many different points as humanly possible! Tombseye 22:54, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Bolding

Hi Abdulnr,

I noticed that you like to bold a lot of things, for example on History of Azerbaijan. In all Wikipedia articles, only the title should be bolded, such as in History of South Africa. Perhaps you mean to wikify something instead of bolding? --Khoikhoi 18:23, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Happy New Year

Perhabs... I only want to bolden personal names, country names and things of importance to the article. I noticed it is done in a lot of articles in wikipedia Abdulnr 00:34, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

Happy New Year. :-)
Instead of bolding them, you should wikify (add a Wikipedia link to it) so people can go to that article about the person or place. Also, can you point out some of those articles that you saw? --Khoikhoi 01:06, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Arran

Hi Abdulnr. I’m glad to greet my compatriot here. I noticed that you’ve made a great contribution to the articles about the history of Azerbaijan, and I would like to thank you for that. Could you please have a look at Arran (Azerbaijan). Some anonymous editors introduced dubious facts to the history section, I’m not that good in ancient history, maybe you could expand and correct the historical part of the article? Regards, Grandmaster 06:13, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi again and Happy Novruz to you too. I agree that this article is not worth the attention some people attach to it and it is politically motivated. However, the latest edits were done by an anonymous Armenian editor, some of those guys tend to lay claims on all the territories of the region. Thanks for your intervention, the article makes more sense now, but we should keep it under control anyway. Of course, the history of the region should be described in the article about history of Azerbaijan. Also, could you please have a look at Safavids, some Persian guys try to deny Turkic origins of the dynasty, it’s been a very long debate that's been going on for many month, but maybe you can contribute to it as well. And if you have time, please also have a look at Shaddadid, I’m not sure about the accuracy of information contained there. Regards, Grandmaster 05:55, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Momine Khatun

Hi, I suggest moving the article Momine Khatun to Momine Khatun Mausoleum, since the article is not about the personality, but about the mausoleum. What do you think? Grandmaster 07:10, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Unfortunately right now I don’t have much time, because I’m involved in editing a couple of Azerbaijan related articles. But as soon as I finish with them, I’ll try to do something in that area. Please let me immediately know about any article you create, especially the ones related to ancient buildings, because we can get them featured in one of Wikipedia sections. [edit] New article

Hi, you may wish to have a look at Ajami Nakhchivani, it’s a new article. Grandmaster 09:56, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

The article about Ajami was created by Rstml, he apparently is also from Azerbaijan. It is a good article, but it may need some work. As for Azeri generals, I also wrote the articles about Kerim Kerimov, Samedbey Mehmandarov and Ali-Agha Shikhlinski, and I also plan to expand the stub article about Azi Aslanov. Right now I’m very busy with Khojaly massacre and a couple of other controversial articles, but as soon as I have some time I’ll write new articles about people from Azerbaijan. So far 3 of my articles have been featured in Did you know section on the main page, including Hussein Khan Nakhichevanski. May I also ask you to see what you can do about Nakhichevan khanate, it is an important article. I’ll try to find Bakhikhanov’s image. Take care. Regards, Grandmaster 14:02, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
By the way, have a look at extremely well written article about Fuzûlî. I like it a lot. In my opinion, so far it is the best article about Azeri poets. Grandmaster 14:34, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
I made a new category Azerbaijani khanates under the category History of Azerbaijan and included all the khanates there. I think it is a better way to organize the khanates and now they can all be found by clicking the new category. Grandmaster 11:49, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Balakishi Arablinski

Hi, can you add a bit more info to your new article on Balakishi Arablinski please? There's currently so little it is technically a "speedy deletion" candidate - as long as there is no information why that person is notable, it's in danger of being deleted any moment. Thanks, Fut.Perf. 14:02, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Don't get me wrong - I didn't want it to be deleted. I was just wondering who that guy was. I assume you have some good reason to want an article on him. :-) Fut.Perf. 16:05, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey. I asked some editors what they think. Görüşərik, —Khoikhoi 23:54, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Check out Iranian peoples page

Hello. Since you are Azeri, I thought I'd let you know about a situation on the Iranian peoples page. There's a vote going on there that concerns the inclusion of the Azeri people as an Iranian people (despite not being speakers of an Iranian language). I think that it would help to get the opinions of Azeris who should participate as the voting will turn the page into a Persian platform for how to define Iranian peoples which would be a shame. Thanks. Tombseye 17:54, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

I'll try to do something, but it's up in the air at this point. If you read the article we already have a section on cultural assimilation and discuss the Turko-Iranian situation, which is common in academia to refer to both Turkic and Iranic peoples as one group in some situations, and talk about the Azeris. They don't really fit in the article otherwise, except from a Persian context, but the article is not about the just the Persians as it is about the Iranic peoples as whole (similar to the Turkic peoples). If you have other Azeris willing to put in their opinions that might help and please feel free to suggest some alternative solutions as well. Thanks. Tombseye 20:37, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Persian people#History

Could you take a look at the first sentence in this section? It claims that Persians are descendants of some "Aryan tribes" migrating from Central Asia. Sounds like outdated racial theories to me. The same source (Britannica) says Persians are of mixed ancentry, but when I try to add this in people remove it. I don't think this is consistent with WP:NPOV. Could you take a look at this and leave some feedback on the talk page? Thanks, AucamanTalk 07:14, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Yes, this was sent to more than just one person. Could you tell me what you think about it? Iran has a big Azeri population and many of them speak or identify as Persian. I don't think they like to be called "descendants of Aryan tribes" just because they speak Persian and live in Iran. AucamanTalk 20:13, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kizilbash

Thanks for your contribution in the article Kizilbash. Certain theories (regarding the origin) and certain expressions I have used are direct copies of the Encyclopaedia of Islam. Before changing them, please ask which part of the text you want to change, so I can compare that to the text of the Encyclopaedia of Islam.

Till next week, I'll try to write a few sentences about their (radical) beliefs.

Maybe we should also try to find a few pictures.

Tajik 00:02, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Of course they did not. But them being "spiritual descendants" of the Khurramiyyah is actually supported by Roger Savory; the idea was first introduced by the Turkish scholar Abdülbaki Göpenarli (see reference). Of course, this sounds really strange. But on the other hand, it also makes sense. The idea of a "continuing spiritual linage" from Mazdakism to Shiism (--> Khurramiyyah/--> Assassins) and then to the Safavids (--> Kizilbash) is not really a new idea. Tajik 00:12, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
Hey Abdul. I'll check out the page and try to mediate the dispute once Tajik & GM are unblocked. Please remind me if I forget. Regards, —Khoikhoi 01:50, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, the one who called me the troublesome Jew is a racist ultranationalist btw. Anyways, I'm glad the Kizilbash issue was resolved. What's the problem on the Safavids page right now? —Khoikhoi 21:20, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Jews were controling the massacres against Azerbaijani people in 1900's.You can find lots of proofs.ASALA terrorists were trained by Israel as well.Wanna more? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by -Inanna- (talkcontribs) .

Hello Abdul, sorry for the late reply regarding. I think it's a minor point and I'm glad it's been resolved. The Kizilbash do have an eclectic background that is dominated by the Turkomen ultimately, but due to its diversity I think just having a general opening is okay, while the focus of the article ultimately will be on the Turkic element that was the largest etc. As for the histories of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan, yes there is not much controversy there, but that may be due to a lack of people from there who are aware of wikipedia as well whereas the folks representing other regions such as the Caucasus and Iran etc. are numerous. I do believe those article could use some help at some point as well. As for the Kizilbash, the article looks good so far. I'll see what I can add to help out as I think so far you guys have done a good job. Cheers. Tombseye 17:03, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Safavids

Yes, I do agree that the 1st paragraph is a bit weaselly, but it's the result of a very long edit war. I think, however, that Tajik doesn't mind saying "Turkic-speaking", but please clarify that with him. I like your proposal, how about this?

The Safavids were initially a Turkic-speaking Iranian dynasty that ruled from 1501 to 1736, and which established Shi'a Islam as Iran's official religion and united its provinces under a single Iranian sovereignty, thereby reigniting the Persian identity and acting as a bridge to modern Iran.

Khoikhoi 00:01, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

I support this, but the fact is that late Safavids were also Turkic-speakers, as attested by Iranica. Grandmaster 04:26, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] History of Turkmenistan

Hello. That sounds great! I will indeed help out as we worked well the last time with Azerbaijan. I'll put in what info. I can when I get a chance. Thanks. Tombseye 22:53, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Hmm, yes that does sound like a problem regarding the Iraqi Turkmen and Turkmen of Turkmenistan. Interestingly enough I often read the term Turkoman for the Iraqi group and Turkmen for the people of the country. Regardless they need to be separate as they are distinct. I wrote to Khoikhoi regarding picture collage editing. We both compiled pictures and he used his photo editor to put them together. If you have suggestions, let him know and he'll get to it when he has the time. I'll try to work on the articles (Turkmen and History of Turkmenistan) this weekend in-between doing other work! Yeah too bad there aren't any Turkmen to help out along with Uzbeks, etc. Oh well, we'll do the best we can. Cheers. Tombseye 03:17, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Hey Abdul. I'll make the picture when I have the time. As I said to Tombseye, I'm pretty busy right now. Hələlik! —Khoikhoi 03:23, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I just moved the table to the Turkmen language article. Note that it's also at the Turkmen alphabet article. —Khoikhoi 23:39, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Greetings. Well, I agree with your theory as the genetic testing seems to link the Turkmen more to an Iranic background rather than a Mongol one and since the Turkmen are closest to the other Turkic tribes, I agree. As for the Azeris, I think the northerners seem to still cluster closer with the Armenians, Lezgi, etc. while their Iranic ties are somewhat less pronounced, but this might be different for Azeris in Iran (although it might vary there as some may be identical to Azeris in the Caucasus). We'll need to avoid original theories though, but I think as long as it's sourced we can make the claim that the Turkmen were less 'Mongol' than say the Kazakhs (who show some traces of Iranian ancestry too such as the Scythians and Amazons etc.) and Uzbeks. Tombseye 20:00, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Yeah that sounds cool. It may even work out to placate the Iranian editors who will be glad to hear that the Turkic part of modern Azeris is largely derived from Central Asian Iranian peoples. Two birds with one stone, eh? ;) Tombseye 20:49, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Cool, so I'll add Esenov to the picture. I'd prefer it if we had someone more notable than the girl. Do you know anyone famous in the past few centuries? —Khoikhoi 01:11, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] History of Turkmenistan picture

Hello. I was thinking of moving the picture of the Turkmen girl to the Turkmen people page as it doesn't seem very relevant in terms of history, but would fit well with the Turkmen people article. What do you think? Also, you might want to talk to Khoikhoi about the 4 people picture for the page to make it more presentable. I'm going to start working on the History of Turkmenistan I do believe, but probably slowly given time constraints. Oh and, if you the time or feel that you can contribute, there is some problem at the Pashtun people page regarding renaming the article. Cheers. Tombseye 21:34, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] History of Madagascar

I saw you trying to add a "citation needed" message to this article. The template you wanted was {{fact}} which produces [citation needed] and also adds that article to Category:Articles with unsourced statements (which should really contain just about every article we have, but that's another issue.) Hope this helps. --Cherry blossom tree 23:05, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kadets' role in March events

Hi abdulrn, I just want to tell you that about article on Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, also the Kadets took part in the fighting against Muslim population, it's written in many places, for now I can give you this sources Even the Kadets, for all their loathing of the Bolsheviks, pledged that they would support them because they were fighting for "the Russian cause." http://www.khazar.org/jas/text/history.html Bye(Plato77 22:14, 31 July 2006 (UTC))

I would have thought they would not be in the government by then, they were thrown out in Nov 17, and most importantly they did not have military fraction - Bolsheviks and Dashnaks and S-R had. General Bicherakhov was major monarchist and he could not come before Bolsheviks fell.... But may be they were i don;t know abdulnr
