Abdul Aziz Said

Abdul Aziz Said a Syrian-born writer and ranking professor of international relations in the School of International Service at American University where he is the first occupant of the endowed Mohammed Said Chair of Islamic Peace.

Since joining the American University faculty in 1957, Said has written or edited over a dozen books on international relations and served on a number of notable bodies such as the United States Department of State on the Future of Iraq Project and the White House Committee on the Islamic World. He founded and is the Director of the Center for Global Peace, which undertakes a range of activities aimed at advancing the understanding of world peace. Said is also the Director and founder of the International Peace & Conflict Resolution Program at American University.
