[edit] Main cast

Andrea Williamson
Andrea lives alone with her mother in her house in Avery, Texas. After a strange night involving what she believes are Angels and Boogeymen, she begins to think that she, too, is an angel. A belief that usually gets her into trouble with the people around her. At seventeen years old, Andrea has grown up to be a strong, intelligent young woman. She's also become driven with finding others like herself, and find a place where she truly belongs. At twenty seven, secure in her belief as an angel reborn, Andrea has sacrificed most of her previous life in order to watch over and protect her flock. Finding love was not something she wanted. Finding a love who would assist her was even more unexpected.
The Shadows
When you were a child, they were the ones watching from your closet. Under the watchful eye of their Lord Morningstar, the Shadows scare children, feeding off their fear, occasionally stealing human souls to increase their ranks.
The Angels
Twelve True Angels and thousands of Lesser Angels patrol the world, offering guidance and protection from the soul hunting Shadows.
Han'a Alfagauchmeier (or Hanna)
14,000 years ago, a young girl named Han'a was asked to join the all-male hunting team for her tribe, due to an emergency. With her hunting partner Manwaz, she helped see her tribe through the crises, and become the first woman in her tribe to earn a killmark, marking her as a true hunter. After the disappearance of the Creator, Han'a was again chosen during an emergency and became the first of the human angels, replacing the disgraced Morningstar. 14,000 years later she has chosen Andrea to be the next Human Angel.

After only managing one kill in his two years, he comes to the tribe to request status as a Gallus, or a man living as a woman in the tribe. While at first grudgingly accepted by the women, Nen'a, as the tribe named her, becomes the Medicine Woman, the highest position a woman can have in the tribe.
The Archangel Michael
With the disappearance of the Creator, Deyus Pitha, Michael was handed control of the Angels under him. [edit] Trivia

  • While there are several on-screen homages to Matt Wagner's "Mage: The Hero Discovered", the entire series is an homage to Mage's style of storytelling. "A Wish for Wings" is an allegorical retelling of the author's wish to become an artist, with many of the characters and situations corresponding to people and events in the author's life.
  • The Shadows are based on the paranormal shadow people phenomenon. The angels were originally based on the appearance of the Seraphs in Battlestar Galactica
  • A spinoff involving the Tribe of Ehrem, seen in "The Lesson of Patience" and called "The Long Road Home," is now in the planning stages.
