A Poet's Life is the first solo album by Tim Armstrong (Rancid, Transplants, Operation Ivy) which is being released as downloads through his own label, Hellcat Records. The first song was released on August 29, 2006, but the album page at Epitaph Records[1](Hellcat Records is a subsidiary of Epitaph), claims it has a February 6, 2007 release.
On August 29, 2006, Tim sent out a bulletin over MySpace, the text of which later appeared on Epitaph Records's site[1] that explained his decision to release a solo LP. Unlike most albums, Armstrong's will be free and downloadable over the internet. Armstrong has stated that he will release the record one song at a time.
It is possible that the album will have 12 tracks in total, as the MP3 metadata for the second song, "Wake Up", indicated it was track 2 of 12.
