A Period of Transition is an album by the singer/songwriter Van Morrison. Released in 1977, it was his first album in two and a half years, a long time considering his otherwise prolific nature. Largely forgotten or looked over by most casual fans, it's still notable for several major compositions, including "Heavy Connection," "It Fills You Up," "The Eternal Kansas City" and "Cold Wind in August."
