The Yiddish Policemen's Union: A Novel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Yiddish Policemen's Union is Michael Chabon's sixth novel, due to be released on May 1, 2007. The novel is an alternate history story based upon the premise that after World War II, a Yiddish-speaking Jewish homeland was established in Alaska. Initially HarperCollins, Chabon's publisher, had scheduled April 11, 2006 as the release date for the book, but Chabon "pulled the plug on April publication." In announcing the delay Chabon claimed that the manuscript was complete but that he felt that HarperCollins was rushing the novel into publication.[1] An excerpt from the novel appeared in the Fall 2006 issue of the Virginia Quarterly Review.
