A House

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A House were a band from Dublin, Ireland, formed in 1985, after the split of the band, Last Chance. They consisted of vocalist Dave Couse, guitarist Fergal Bunbury and bassist Martin Healy and drummer Dermot Wylie. When Wylie left after the touring of I Want Too Much the band extended to a six piece with new members Dave Dawson on drums, David Morrissey on keyboards and backing vocals from Susan Kavanagh.

I Am the Greatest was produced by Edwyn Collins, and it was the commercial and critical peak for the band. A House finally folded in 1997 due to lack of commercial success. Couse still pursues a solo career.

[edit] Trivia

  • The single "Here Comes The Good Times" was re-recorded by various Irish celebrities and boy band members for use as the official Irish World Cup anthem in 2002. Proceeds went to charity, and €40,000 was raised for Our Lady's Hospital for Children, Crumlin.
  • The single "Endless Art" was a list of famous dead people with the dates they were born and the date that they died. Due to the list being made up of male artists, poets and musicians, a second version was recorded using the names of prominent dead women instead, and it was called "More Endless Art".
  • Dave Couse now performs a third live-version of "Endless Art" called "Endless Art 06" which lists people who have died since the first recording.
