Wormwood: A Drama of Paris
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wormwood: A Drama of Paris (1890) is a proto-modernist book written by Marie Corelli. Although the book was published in Europe in the traditionally Victorian format of the "triple-decker" novel, the content of the book addresses the effects and very modern urban woes of Absinthe in fin-de-siecle Paris. The European Edition was published by Richard Bentley & Son, London 1890; The American Edition was published by WM. L. Allison Company, New York.
A must read for students of modernism.
