A Cool Million: The Dismantling of Lemuel Pitkin is Nathanael West's third novel, published in 1934. It is a brutal farce of Horatio Alger's novels and their eternal optimism. The novel was published in an edition of 3,000 copies to mixed reviews and poor sales; it was not reprinted in West's lifetime.
