A32 road
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The A32 is a road in Hampshire, southern England, that links Gosport and Alton.
[edit] Route
Starting at Gosport, facing Portsmouth, it travels north via Fareham, Wickham, Droxford, before joining the A31 road near Alton. The road is 29.2 miles long from the seafront at Gosport to the roundabout with the A31 near Alton, and has entirely non-primary status.
The A32 through Gosport has a poor reputation: it is the only principal road from the conurbation, and is frequently congested throughout the day. An accident anywhere upon it results in congestion which cripples Gosport.
There have been a number of attempts to solve this traffic problem, but this has been blocked by local residents, by central or local government. These have included a tram system, the return of local rail systems, a three-lane system and a trolly-bus lane. None of these solutions have come to fruition and so local residents and commuters remain frustrated.
