A.J. Wright is a chain of 162 American retail/outlet stores established in 1998 and owned by TJX Companies. Like its sister company T.J. Maxx, A.J. Wright sells clothing, domestics, giftware, footwear, accessories, and fragrances at prices between twenty and seventy percent below regular prices.[1] A.J. Wright is different from other TJX chains in that it refreshes its merchandise on a regular basis. For most stores, new shipments arrive every weekday.[2]

[edit] Strategy
Although A.J. Wright's primary target market is moderate-income families, its recent expansion has drawn in additional consumer groups.[3] This expansion has also prompted A.J. Wright owners to open eight new stores by the end of 2006. The company's community service strategy centers around monetary support and donations to the Boys and Girls Club of America and other affiliates. [4]
In a recent edition of TJX Magazine, A.J. Wright affiliates elaborated on the "Door to floor in 24" plan — a refined method of processing the constant supply of goods flowing into the store backrooms. Additionally, A.J. Wright's human resources director mentioned a plan to influence shipments based on the ethnic demographics of each store's territory.
On November 30, 2006, TJX announced the closure of 34 underproducing stores, including at least two in Rhode Island.[5] In turn the company expects to open five — ten new stores by the end of 2007. [6]
