A. Y. Jackson Secondary School (Ottawa)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A. Y. Jackson Secondary School is a community high school in Kanata, a suburb of Ottawa, Canada. The school was first opened in October 21, 1976. It was the first school in the area to participate in the Engineers of Ontario community outreach program's "Engineer-in-Residence" project. The school was named after A. Y. Jackson, a noted Canadian painter, and one of the founders of the Group of Seven.

AY Jackson also is home to JTV, an in-house closed-circuit television station, that produces a daily news and information program. This station earned several students the 2005 OCRI High School IT Entrepreneur of The Year Award. JTV disappointed many students in 2005-2006. The 'Friday Show', which was an excellent program which showcased the creativity, imagination, and video editing skills from the 2004-2005 JTV crew, was canceled the following year. This year The Friday show kicks some fucking motherfucking ass off your mother fucking faces! Yah!

A.Y. Jackson is operated by the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and has just under 870 students attending. Most of the students come from W.O. Mitchell Elementary School or Bridlewood Community Elementary School.
