A. Karunakaran(born 1971) is a Telugu film director.

Before coming into Telugu Film Industry, his parents forced him to join polytechnics. After finishing polytechnics in 1989, he went to Madras. He became an assistant director to a few successful directors like Shankar.

Karunakaran's first directorial film was Tholi Prema was a sensational hit. That film enhanced Pawan Kalyan's image as an actor. Since then, he as given no hit. Yuvakudu, Vasu, Balu ABCDEFG, and Happy disappointed at box office.
