9, created by Shane Acker, is a computer animated 2005 Academy Award-nominated short film, and will be adapted as a feature film distributed by Focus Features.

On January 31, 2006 the short film was nominated for the Academy Award for Animated Short Film.
The plot revolves around a "rag doll" character that fights a monster that has stolen the rest of his people's souls. The characters and sets are mostly comprised of every-day objects.

9 will also be an upcoming computer animated feature film adapted from the short film and will be produced in part by Tim Burton, Timur Bekmambetov, and Jim Lemley and is scheduled for release in 2008.
Shane Acker will direct the film and, with Pamela Pettler, will write the script. Elijah Wood has said he has recorded a voice for it.[1] [2]
