[edit] History
92.9 was originally 6PM on the AM band, beginning broadcasting on April 22, 1937 and in the '60s, '70s and '80s broadcast a Top 40 format on 990 kHz. The station also fended off challenges by rival FM station 96FM in the 1980s, an era where FM was becoming dominant.
On December 31, 1990, the station was the first of two Perth radio stations to convert to FM and became 92.9 6PM-FM, and then PMFM. The official call sign, for regulatory purposes was changed to 6PPM to reflect the move to FM.
The 2000s saw PMFM change their name to The All New 92.9, and then to just 92.9. In February 2006, 92.9 changed its logo in line with the rest of the Today Network. In 2007 92.9 will move to a new purpose built building on the corner of Monteah and Roberts Road in Subiaco.

The original AM transmitter for 6PM was situated at Coffee Point in Applecross. The ERP is at 40kW Omni-directional, covering the north and south of Perth.
