[edit] History

Love Radio was previously known by its call letters DZMB when it began broadcasts on the FM band in 1973 from its first broadcast days on the AM band. Back then, it played mainstream pop, later gravitating to easy listening music. As DZMB, it also introduced and institutionalized the deep-voiced radio announcer Dante Luzon, which later became its station manager up to the time that the station reformatted to this present programming.

[edit] Strengths of the Station

From strictly slow songs, the strong point of all Love Radio shows today has been its plain and simple grassroots entertainment. The jocks, despite earning criticisms from mostly educated listeners of higher income groups for their cheap jokes, senseless banter, and even its absurd and green jock names, were idolized to no end by the ordinary man on the street in every city that its stations are airing.

Another plus factor is the signal quality. Love Radio's signal involve a quadrophonic (4 channel) stereo sound that's heavy on the bass side of music, giving it an overwhealming presence. Its a sure come on even for radios of relatively weak quality, ensuring its popularity.

[edit] Criticisms

Love Radio is known to air jokes and other commentaries that are considered to be for mature audiences, even though the station is commonly played in public places where children may be present [1].
