This is my first wack at an about me page here on Wikipedia, I hope I'm doing it right.

Anyway, my name is Les, I am male, I live in the midwest (the real midwest, not the one over by Chicago). I have a family, four children, three living, one is grown up and married, the other two are in college. I work in the computer business, my card says "Consultant" but I do very little true consulting these days, mostly I actually work on computers and networks, rather than just talking and writing about them like real consultants do <g>. Mostly I focus on networking, Cisco PIX firewalls, routers, and occasional switches. I also install and support VMware and I work on Microsoft Windows servers in my spare time.

I enjoy writing, especially sharing ideas. I discovered Wikipedia and made my first contributions in December of 2004, anonymously under my current home net static IP of 24.123.96.74. Like many things I do I dived in without fully understanding the process and maybe rubbed a few people the wrong way.

I'm currently watching and making an occasional contribution to several computer related topics as well as various pages related to the Latter Day Saint movement. I wrote a couple of computer related articles, and I am currently working on a project to try to reorganize the Mormonism and Christianity page, I'm working on that in my sandbox, see User:74s181/Sandbox/Mormonism and Christianity for outline and current status. Hopefully I'm doing this the right way. Generally I have a hard time finishing projects like this, that may be good news to the people who suffered long to get the Mormons and Christianity article to its current state.

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the one headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have been a member all of my life, my parents joined the church when I was about 1 year old. I went thru a rebellious period in my late teens and did not serve a mission but have been active since then and held many callings, most of them involving teaching. For the last three years I have taught the Gospel Doctrine class in my ward, I also taught it previously. This doesn't mean I think I have any particular authority to speak on the doctrines of The Church, but I do feel that it gives me a clearer picture of what is official doctrine vs "Mormon Myth".

Anyway, that's who I am. For more info about me and why I use the handle "74s181", see my website, http://www.74s181.com.
