I've rolled back some but not all of your migratory bird act edits. Species like Barn Owl and the albatrosses have a world-wide distribution, and it's not reasonable to add local legislation, otherwise you could end up with dozens of acts listed - for example the barn Owl is, afaik, protected in every European country, jimfbleak 19:37, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

I appreciate the intention, but I'm particularly wary when it comes to groups of birds. For example, the Winter Wren is a British breeding bird, and hence protected under UK and European legislation. I would not add that to the article, because of that species huge range, extending into two other continents at least. I certainly wouldn't add it to wren, given that no other wren species occurs in Europe. Most albatrosses and bitterns do not occur within the Act's range, and in the case of Barn Owl it seems parochial to single out what is essentially American legislation for a cosmopolitan species.
Your suggestion may be a way round, but I would still have doubts about including bird families unless they were essentailly western hemisphere like the hunmmers. jimfbleak 20:05, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
