I've noticed that you've been making many additions to state pages concerning racial makeup. What is your source for this info and could you please note it when you change pages? You also might want to think about creating a username for yourself to track your contributions. Thanks.--Hraefen 21:57, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

The point of returning the Scottish statistics was so we could at least have a basis for researching these numbers. See my comment in Talk:Scottish ethnicity Antidote
I think it is pretty disgusting how you allow this figures to remain on the Scottish People page but other ethnicities have to keep to sourced statistics. There is nothing out there to show such statistics at this point in time70.30.71.252 19:06, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 3RR
Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert an article to a previous version more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you.--Mais oui! 18:00, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] 3RR on Scottish people
You have been temporarily blocked for violation of the three revert rule. Please feel free to return after the block expires, but also please make an effort to discuss your changes further in the future. Tom Harrison Talk 01:23, 13 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Scotchirish.net
It's beyond my power to forbid that a website be used as a reference on Wikipedia. It's also beyond my expertise to judge this one's merits. As a general rule, most editors prefer to add a countervailing view rather than eliminate an objectionable one. Anyway, your concerns are primarily about content. You'll have to discuss it on the article talk page, and convince the other editors of the merits of your position by reasoned argument and citations from published work. Thanks for taking an interest and contributing. Let me know if I can help. Best regards, Tom Harrison Talk 21:15, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
"I would like to be referred to a person in upper management with respect to my query." Sorry, I have no idea who that would be. I don't think there is any management; we're all volunteers. You might poke around on the Main Page or the Wikipedia:Community Portal. Tom Harrison Talk 21:50, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Please stop adding nonsense to Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 16:53, 26 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Ancestry
Ancestry and ethnic groups are not the same thing, and certainly in terms of the statistics and how they were derived you cannot conclude that they are. Can you seriously try and claim that a person who identifies as Irish because they're great grandparents were Irish, and also identifies as Australian because they were born in Australia (the way the statistics were compiled you could nominate as many ancestor countries as you wanted to), that that person is ethnically Irish? It really is a stretch. The person identifies having Irish ancestors, which is what the statistic measures, it is incorrect to call ancestry ethnicity, and misleading to present that statistic that way.--nixie 01:06, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- The statistic is called ancestry by the Australian Bureau of statistics, to take that statistics and call it ethnicity - is not necessarily a logical jump as ancetory does not necessarlity equate to someone identifying with an ethnic group. What statistics actaully record is what should be reported, not a Point of View interpretation of the data.--nixie 01:25, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have no interest in arguing with you. The article will report the statistic as recorded by the ABS, and that terminology is ancestry.--nixie 01:29, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- I agree totaly with Peta. When I completed the Australian 2001 census I put down my ancestry as various different countries that some of my granparents/great-grandparents came from. I would resent being labelled as being of a certain ethnicity becasue one of my great grandparents happened to be from a certain country and don't believe that it is at all what the census was asking. --Martyman-(talk) 01:32, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

- More specifically ancestry and ethnicity are treated separately in Australian stastics, read this for more detail.--nixie 01:41, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Regarding civility
I was reading through some of the comments you have made to other users via either edit summaries or on their user talk pages, and it is clear to me that you are unaware of Wikipedia official policy on dispute resolution and civility.
For example:
- "hey...listen up CYBERJUNKIE....there are those from Ireland that not consider Ireland to be part of the British Isles...it may be a geographic term but many consider it insulting to irish and scottish" IS NOT CIVIL.
- "rev - CAMBRIDGEBAYWEATHER !! u need to take your anti-Irish sentiment elsewhere...the Irish are not British, at least that what my passport states...so wise up and stop your ignorance..." IS DEFINITELY NOT CIVIL.
I know it can be hard, but please try to be more polite to other users. It will make them respect you more in return. --Tyson2k 08:54, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Borough of Brent ethnicity statistics
Thank you for your contribution to London Borough of Brent. I have reverted the change you made, if nothing else because it was not correct (thr 45% white are not only British and Irish, some are, for example, Polish). Captainj 23:01, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your changes to Brent, it works really well now, Cheers, Captainj 23:36, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
