69 (sex position)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The sexual position 69, also known as soixante-neuf (taken from the French for the number), is one of the most commonly known sexual positions. In this position, two people orient themselves such that each person's mouth is near the other's genitals so that they can simultaneously perform oral sex on each other.[1] This can be done lying down, one on top of the other or side by side, or alternatively, one partner can stand while holding the other upside down.
Partners commonly insert a finger into the vagina or anus of the other to provide additional stimulation.
In this position the more sensitive underside of the penis is placed against the top of the receiving partner's mouth rather than against the tongue, thereby creating a sensation different from that of traditional oral sex.
[edit] Origin
The term "69" derives from a reference to the fact that the digit 6 is the digit 9 rotated 180 degrees. In this sexual position, the partners are similarly oriented.[1]
[edit] Disadvantages
The intensity of the sensations may diminish mutual pleasure, as one may find it difficult to concentrate on giving stimulation while receiving it.[citation needed]
