I also answered on the article talk page. AFAIK the described effect is the Hanbury-Brown and Twiss effect. It is not specifically "bio" and should better be explained on its own page, if someone is willing to do the work. See [1] --Pjacobi 01:50, 2005 Feb 3 (UTC)
